VN-Index continues rising momentum

VN-Index, a measure of 270 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, resumed gains on December 2 on rising buying demand.

The benchmark accelerated 1.66 percent, or 7.49 points, to close at 457.42 points.

Among the index members, 222 increased, 26 declined, while 27 remained unchanged.

Trading volume on the city bourse increased by 34.67 percent to 66 million shares worth VND1.36 trillion, an increase of 31.58 percent in value.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, topped the list of most active shares in volume with 4.26 million shares changing hands.

It was followed by Tan Tao Investment Industry Corporation (ITA) with 2.94 million shares traded.

Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) ranked third with 2.88 million shares.

Winners on the southern trading floor included Foreign Trade Development and Investment Corporation of Ho Chi Minh City (FDC), Lu Gia Mechanical Electric Joint Stock Company (LGC), Thong Nhat Rubber Joint Stock Company (TNC), Dong Do Marine Joint Stock Company (DDM), Cadovimex Seafood Import-Export And Processing Joint Stock Company (CAD), DIC Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company (DIC), and Viet Nam – Italy Steel Joint Stock Company (VIS). They all jumped the daily maximum allowed limit of 5 percent.

Tai Nguyen Corporation (TNT) and Sonadezi Long Thanh (SZL) both climbed up 4.98 percent to VND21,100.

DESCON Construction Corporation (DCC) declined for two days in a row, eroding 4.91 percent to VND25,200.

Vien Dong Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (DVD) shrank 4.85 percent to VND49,000.

Vietnam Active Fund (VFMVFA) retreated 3.61 percent to VND8,000 from 8,300 the previous day.

Meanwhile, trading volume on the northern bourse continued to stay on high level. Around 70 million shares changed hands at a value of VND1.36 trillion. The Hanoi’s HNX-Index closed at 111.93 points, soaring 5.23 points, or 4.9 percent.

The UPCom-Index added up 0.57 points to 42.12 points this morning. The market of unlisted shares saw a total of 305,900 shares trading at VND3.43 billion.
