Viet Nam resolutely opposed Taiwan’s building of a lighthouse in Taiping Island (Itu Aba Island) in Viet Nam’s Spratly archipelago, said FM Spokesman Le Hai Binh.

The Spokesman made the point on August 24 in response to reporters’ queries about the illegal building.

“Viet Nam has full legal basis and historic evidence to claim its uncontroversial sovereignty over Spratly and Parcel archipelagos. All foreign-related activities in the water areas are illegal and valueless without Viet Nam’s permission,” said the diplomat.

Viet Nam, said Mr. Binh, resolutely objected Taiwan’s building of the lighthouse in Taiping Island in Viet Nam’s Spratly archipelagos. The action seriously violated Viet Nam’s territorial sovereignty over Spratly archipelago, caused strain and complicated the situation in the East Sea.

“Viet Nam demands Taiwan put an end to such wrongdoings and not to recur similar actions”, stressed the Spokesman.
