Vina Kraft Paper fires up second production line in Vietnam

SCG Packaging, a subsidiary of SCG, has successfully started up of its second paper production line in Vietnam.

The first reel of corrugated medium paper was rolled out at the end of October 2016, significantly ahead of the scheduled second quarter of 2017.

According to Sangchai Wiriyaumpaiwong, general director of Vina Kraft Paper, the success reaffirms SCG Packaging’s strong leadership as the largest high-quality packaging paper producer on the high-growth Vietnamese market.

“The new machine line allows SCG Packaging to add 243,500 tonnes per annum to its portfolio and capitalise on efficiency optimisation. The company has doubled its existing capacity in Vietnam and achieved a total paper packaging capacity of 2.6 million tonnes per annum across strategic ASEAN countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines,” said Wiriyaumpaiwong.

The factory of Vina Kraft Paper is a 70/30 joint venture between Siam Kraft Industry Company Limited (an SCG Packaging subsidiary) and Rengo Company Limited (Japan). It is located at My Phuoc 3 industrial park in the southern province of Binh Duong, 45 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City, and has been the leading paper packaging producer in Vietnam since 2009.
