Vietnam’s import of cars from China skyrocketing over first four months

In the first four months of 2015, Vietnam imported 8,850 cars from China, up by 289 per cent on year, according to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Vietnam imported 35,000 automobiles worth $880 million over the first four months, an increase of 131 per cent in number and 180.6 per cent in value compared to the same period of last year. Imports from other countries besides China are shown in the table below:

The number of imported automobiles between four and nine seats went up by 89.3 per cent to 13,200 units, while the number of trucks rose by 93.6 per cent to 12,930 units. The number of other automobiles was 8,890 units, 5.9 times as much as that of the same period of last year.

In April alone, Vietnam imported 9,900 cars with the total value of $294 million, up nine per cent on year.
