Vietnamobile has put its credentials on the table by pledging to become the third largest operator in Vietnam’s mobile market.

After entering the market in April 2009, the upstart has rattled the cages of many heavyweight mobile network operators, turning into the fourth biggest player with 10 million subscribers. To underscore its growth, in 2010 Vietnamobile emerged as the only new network operator to win the prestigious VICTA 2010 Award for the best tariff plan.

“After three years in Vietnam’s telecommunications market, we have gained the trust of millions of users thanks to putting customers at the centre of every creation,” said Vietnamobile chief executive officer Elizabete Fong.

“We are committed to constantly improving quality, introducing preferable and saving service packages as well as expanding high-speed 3G coverage to bring further benefits to customers. Our goal is to become the third largest operator in Vietnam’s mobile market,” she said.

In 2011, Vietnamobile upgraded 3G services to reach the fastest data speed of 21.6 Mbps, paving the way for the operator to achieve network efficacy optimisation targets. To celebrate its success, Vietnamobile has launched a special promotion programme called “3 good years with Orange”.

Accordingly, its customers will get a chance to enjoy promotional activities such as sending SMSs to win VND30 million ($1,440) in prize money a day.
