Vietnam Young Lions will look for six talents in three categories: film, digital, and marketers. The winners will represent Vietnam to compete in Young Lions, an international competition with more than 400 contestants from countries all around the world.

Young Lions takes place within the framework of Cannes Lions—the biggest annual event of the global advertising and communication industry.

Cannes Lion is considered "The Oscars of the advertising industry." Every year, all of the world's largest advertising companies bring their finest creative campaigns to Cannes to compete in the Grand Pix, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards categories.

With the theme of “Live with a Lion’s Heart,” Vietnam Young Lions hopes to encourage young people to show their confidence, courage, and skills in international advertising and communication.

Pham Thi Dieu Anh, head of the organising committee and managing director of AIM Academy, said that Vietnam's advertising and communication sector has yet to be fully developed, so the competition is expected to nurture young talents. Nguyen Dinh Giang, the winner of Vietnam Young Lion 2017, said that participating in the competition has helped him broaden his horizons. The competition is also a platform for young people to network and learn from other creative talents as well as sharpen their creative skills.

This will be the third year AIM hosts Vietnam Young Lions. In its first year (2016), AIM attracted 200 contestants in two categories, film and marketers. In the second year (2017), as many as 400 candidates signed up and the competition gained depth with the addition of the Digital category.
