Those owning such vehicles will be fined from VND300,000 (US$13.35) to VND500,000 (US$22.25) if they do not have sufficient fire safety equipment or lack fire prevention and fighting tools, the government said in Circular 57, which will take effect on January 6, 2016.
The circular requires owners of these automobiles to equip their vehicles with fire extinguishers, ranging from water, foam to dry powder or carbon dioxide, firefighting gloves, specialized flashlights, and others.
The fire safety equipment should be placed in reachable and convenient spots without blocking the driver’s sight, ability to operate the vehicles or affecting the safety of passengers, the circular reads.
Traffic police, fire prevention and fighting police officers, and local officials will be in charge of deciding on the appropriate fine under each circumstance.
