The Vietnamese government has made some achievements in reforming administrative procedures in order to improve the business environment, but there remains a lot to do.

Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh made the above remark during the opening speech at the Annual Vietnam Business Forum 2015 themed Enhancing Enterprise Competitiveness for Global Integration held today, adding that the government focused on breakthroughs in economic restructuring to transform the growth model.

According to Virginia B. Foote, co-chairman of the Vietnam Business Forum and governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Amcham), significant progress has been made on issues important to the business community, especially Resolution 19.

Still, “it requires great effort from Vietnam to modernise the soft infrastructure such as education and administrative procedures as well as hard infrastructure such as energy and transport,” she added.

Foote said that Amcham continued to encourage and support ways to reduce the use of cash, paper and face-to-face financial transactions for business-to-business and business-to-government payments.

The Vietnam Business Forum, established in 1997, is an annual dialogue between the Vietnamese government and the business community with the aim to building a favourable business climate, attract investment and encourage economic growth.
