The Consultative Group (CG) Meeting 2010 will take place in Hanoi on December 7- 8 under the theme of ‘Macro-economic Stabilisation and Sustainable Development’.

The meeting will focus discussions on Vietnam’s opportunities and future challenges as a middle-income country, public administration, improvement of the state economy and anti-corruption, World Bank Director Victoria Kwakwa said at a press briefing in Hanoi on November 30.

Delegates will also talk about how to boost sustainable development, how to mobilise financial support for climate change, plans for poverty reduction and social responsibility and the future of partnership cooperation between Vietnam and its donors when the country joins the group of middle income nations.

On the threshold of the CG meeting, the International Finance Corporation will join the Ministry of Planning and Investment to organise the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) on December 2.

This year’s VBF will focus on the investment environment, activities of local and foreign business associations and Vietnam’s socio-economic development in 2010 and plans for 2011.

The CG Meeting is a forum for frank discussion between the Vietnamese government and international donors on the country’s opportunities and challenges. At last year’s meeting, donors committed over $8 billion for Vietnam’s poverty reduction and development programmes.
