Vietnam is a potential environment for business and has become an increasingly appealing investment destination for British enterprises, UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister Jeremy Browne said during a meeting with the Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee yesterday.

Brown is visiting Vietnam from July 3-5 to push for the implementation of the bilateral Strategic Partnership Agreement, which was signed in 2010.

At the meeting, Browne said British investors have appreciated the business chances made available to them, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, and Vietnam in general.

He called on the municipal government to grant more support for the businessmen of the two countries to boost trade and investment in their strongest sectors.

Browne also expressed his hope that more Vietnamese businesses will seek investment and business chances in the UK.

On the same day, Browne also attended the signing ceremony on the agreement to cooperate in developing an insurance model between Maritime Bank, Prudential Vietnam, and Coats Phong Phu.
