At the meeting, the two sides touched upon recent key developments in the bilateral cooperation and followed up on the implementation of the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement.

‘The Danish government is very pleased to see our bilateral relations with Vietnam growing continuously over the years. With the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement in place, I believe our cooperation is further deepening in important areas like politics, trade, green growth, education and culture to mutual benefit,” Liisberg said in a statement.

Vietnam and Denmark signed the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement on the occasion of the visit of Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang to Denmark in September 2013 and its action plan in May 2014.

The establishment of a comprehensive partnership framework has set a solid platform for the shift from a partnership based almost exclusively on development cooperation, to one embracing all aspects of bilateral cooperation.

Denmark is still one of the major developing partners for Vietnam, and the Danish government expects to disburse up to approximately $35 million in official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam in 2014.

During his two-day visit in Vietnam, Liisberg also had, among others, consultations with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on law issues of mutual interest as well as meetings with the Ministry of Justice, Vietnam Bar Federation and Ho Chi Minh City Law University.
