Vietnam Airlines first Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner made its highly anticipated initial landing at Heathrow Airport in London on September 1, showcasing the airlines new corporate identity and brand image.

“The new state-of-the-art aircraft with its environmentally friendly, safe and convenient features is truly an astonishing development for the airline,” said Vietnam Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Van Thao during a ceremony marking the event.

The launch of the new jet by Vietnam Airlines will better serve as an effective bridge linking the two countries peoples Thao said, and it is most befitting the flight comes on the 5th anniversary of the two nation’s strategic partnership.

“Vietnam Airlines is excited about being the first airline to operate the new B787-9 Dreamliner nonstop between Southeast Asia and Europe, said Le Thanh Dung on behalf of United Airlines.

Dung added that Vietnam Airlines is prouder still that Heathrow is our first international destination.

Vietnam Airlines currently serve the English capital four-times weekly, with two departures from Hanoi and two from Ho Chi Minh City.

This will rise to five or six-times weekly following the deployment of the Dreamliner, and further increase to a daily service for the Summer 2016 season.
