Việt Nam condemns attack in Manchester, offers sympathy to UK

Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc sent a message of condolences to his British counterpart Theresa May over the explosion in Manchester on Monday that killed at least 22 people and injured many.

Foreign Minister spokesperson Lê Thị Thu Hằng yesterday stressed that "Việt Nam strongly condemns any terrorist attack in any form and believes that all terrorist acts must be severely punished".

She also offered deep sympathy to the UK Government, people and families of victims of the attack.

The spokesperson said so far there had been no reports of Vietnamese nationals affected by the explosion, citing the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK.

She added that the Embassy was keeping close contact with local agencies to monitor the situation and would be ready to provide support in case any Vietnamese citizens need help.
