MADRID: Valencia moved into Champions League contention on Monday (Apr 27) with a 4-0 win at home against relegation-threatened Granada.

Javi Fuego's header and Faniel Parejo's penalty had the hosts well in command at the break, with late efforts from Sofiane Feghouli and Alvaro Negredo completing the scoring.

Valencia's 20th La Liga win of the campaign lifted them two points clear of Sevilla and into fourth and contention for a place in the Champions League play-offs next season.

The next instalment in the battle for the final Champions League spot sees Europa League holders Sevilla on the road at Eibar on Wednesday with Valencia at Rayo Vallecano 24 hours later.

On Sunday, Javier Hernandez struck twice as Real Madrid kept the pressure on Barcelona at the top of La Liga by reducing the Catalans' lead to two points with a 4-2 win at Celta Vigo.

While Real must still face Valencia and Sevilla, Barca have a more comfortable run-in to the end of the season, starting with the visit of Getafe on Tuesday.
