US Assistant Secretary to visit Vietnam, Northeast Asian nations

US Assistant Secretary for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance Frank A. Rose is due to tour Vietnam along with three Northeast Asian countries from July 5 – 16, the US Secretary of State announced on its website on July 2. 

His trip to Vietnam and China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan is designed for meetings and external events on space security, missile defense, arms control, and other bilateral and multilateral security topics.

During his stay in Hanoi on July 13-14, Assistant Secretary Rose will have meetings at the Vietnam National Satellite Centre and discuss with senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on issues related to space security and multilateral arms control.

Before that, he will travel to Beijing, China from July 6-9 for discussions on mutual strategic interests with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Space National Agency.

From July 9-10, Assistant Secretary Rose will travel to Seoul, the Republic of Korea, where he will meet with senior officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Blue House to discuss space security and a host of other strategic issues.

He will conclude his travel in Tokyo, Japan, from July 14-16 with meetings with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, and the Cabinet Office on ways to further step up cooperation building upon seventy years of the US-Japan partnership.
