U.S. all-female rock band to perform in HCMC and Nha Trang

The tour is part of a series of events organized by the U.S. Consulate General in HCMC to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Vietnam.

Antigone Rising will participate in free concerts, a press conference, master classes, and community outreach in HCMC and, Nha Trang. Their two free-entrance concerts will take place at Lan Anh Club at 291 Cach Mang Thang Tam Street in HCMC’s District 10 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on July 8 and at April 2 Square at Tran Phu Street in the central coast city of Nha Trang from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on July 12.

During their career, Antigone Rising has gone on tour with groups like The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, the Bangles, and others. The band’s founder/bass guitar player/songwriter, Kristen Henderson, co-authored a memoir with her wife Sarah Ellis-Henderson titled “Times Two, Two Women in Love and the Happy Family They Made,” released by Simon & Schuster. The autobiography chronicled their simultaneous pregnancies and road to motherhood. They were the first same-sex couple to have their marriage ceremony performed in the Episcopal Church of New York State in 2011. The two were featured on the groundbreaking “Gay Marriage Already Won” cover of TIME magazine. Sarah Ellis-Henderson is President and CEO of GLAAD who works with print, broadcast and online news sources to bring people powerful stories from the LGBT community that build support for equality.
