Speaking at the launch ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City's People's Committee Le Van Khoa said the intersection at Truong Son Street - Tan Son Nhat airport - and the belt road in Tan Binhdistrict, as well as the Nguyen Thai Son - Nguyen Kiem intersection in Go Vap and Phu Nhuan districts, are two important intersections in Ho Chi Minh City with large traffic circulation.

The construction of the two flyovers had been crucial, as they are now contributing to reducing traffic congestion at entrances to the Tan Son NhatInternational Airport and creating favourable conditions for local transportation.

The Y-shaped flyover stemming from Truong Son Street comprises of a 300m-branch leading to the international terminal and a 150m-branch leading to the domestic terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport.

Total investment in the flyover stands at VND242 billion (US$10.64 million).

The Nguyen Thai Son - Nguyen Kiem flyover (first phase) is one of the three branches of the flyover project at the traffic circle in Go Vap and Phu Nhuan districts.

It is located approximately 2km from Tan Son Nhat airport and is expected to improve traffic flow to the airport.

The remaining two branches are scheduled for opening by the end of this year, with the flyover project reaching a total investment of VND504 billion (US$22.17 million).

Also the on the same day, one of the branches of the flyover on Nguyen Thai Son Street was opened. This flyover will help ease the congestion at the Nguyen Thai Son-Nguyen Kiem-Hoang Minh Giam roundabout.
