Tropical depression heading for East Sea, likely to become storm
At 4 pm on Wednesday, the depression was located in an area east of the Philippines’ Mindanao Island with winds of up to 49 kph and squalls of 50-74 kph, the center reported Thursday morning.
The depression is moving west-northwest at a speed of 25 kph towards the southeast area of the East Sea.
At 7 pm on Thursday, the depression will be centered in an area northeast of the Philippines’ Palawan Island, with the same wind strength.
After entering the East Sea tonight, the depression may strengthen into a storm, the center warned.
In the next 24 hours, the system will likely continue moving west-northwest at the same speed.
The center said it is closely monitoring the movements and the strength of the fast-moving tropical depression.
