Trade ties with Italy to increase

Trade ties with Italy have received a boost.

The “Vietnam economy forum in Emilia Romagna” was held by Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Italy in Vietnam (ICHAM), in collaboration with the Vietnam embassy in Italy, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economic Development, UNIDO and the Unioncamere Emilia Romagna, in Italy and on the same occasion the opening of  Vietnam economic trade representative office in Emilia-Romagna.

The event follows the success of Vietnam economic trade representative office in Tuscany last year, and included in a series of celebration events on 40-year diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Italy, to enhance trade between the two countries.

The purpose of the representative office in Emilia-Romagna is to provide the maximum support to Italian businesses for going in search of partners in Vietnam, to support Vietnam enterprises to approach and seek opportunities with one of the key economies of Italy and also to attract investment capital from Emilia-Romagna into Vietnam.

Pham Hoang Hai, chief representative of the office in Emilia Romagna, Emila-Romagna, one of the six key Italian economic zones and the heart of Italian mechanical industry, is expected to bring a lot of potential partners for Vietnam businesses in general and mechanical industry in particular.

According to him, it is famous around the world for its motorbike-car manufacturing industry (the famous car brands such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, Ducati, Pagani Zonda are headquartered), mechanical technology, food, alcohol, financial sector, banking are also the strength of the region with the participation of banks Intesa Sanpaolo (Italy's largest bank and among the top 10 European banks). Education is also one of the strength with the representation of the University of Bologna - the oldest universities of Europe established in 1088.

Attending Economic forum and the opening ceremony honour the Vietnamese ambassador in Italy included Nguyen Hoang Long, Federation of Chambers of Commerce in Emilia chairman Romagna Roncarati Carlo Alberto, the director of the International development department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, UNIDO representatives in Italy.

In Italy-Vietnam year, 2013, on March 17 former Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi visited the Italian business community in Vietnam, held by Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Italy in Vietnam (ICHAM). From April 21st, 2013 to April 26th, ICHAM also organised the first official business visit of this year (Umbria business groups) in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
