Toyota celebrates training programme Monozukuri’s 10 years in Vietnam

Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV), Toyota Vietnam Foundation (TVF) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) today organised the conference “Monozukuri – 10 years of implementation in Vietnam – know-how to success in manufacturing and business” to celebrate 10 years of implementation of their cooperation human resource training programme.

“Monozukuri course – know-how to success in manufacturing and business” was first organised in 2005.

With the participation of many trainers from HUST, in cooperation with professional engineers of Toyota from Japan, the US and TMV, Monozukuri has been teaching technical students and Vietnamese companies about the Toyota Production System (TPS), Misspend (muda) and continuous innovation (kaizen), standardised works, quality management in TPS, and positive thinking in problem solving. Especially, participants also have the opportunity to visit TMV and the companies that successfully applied TPS in Vietnam to learn from their experiences.

“Vietnam is integrating into the global economy. This poses great challenges to Vietnam’s enterprises in the face of fierce competition from other countries. It requires the efforts to enhance the product competitiveness by obtaining special know-how to deliver high quality products and services while cutting down costs. This has led TMV to the idea of imparting our Monozukuri know-how to contribute more to the Vietnamese society and industries,” said Yoshihisa Maruta, president of TMV at the conference.

Through 10 years, the programme has trained eight professional trainers with deep knowledge about TPS. The programme also successfully organised 36 courses at HUST and TMV with more than 919 trainees, including 562 trainees as managers from 119 enterprises, and 357 students from technical universities nationwide.

From the year of 2016, besides lectures, class activities and plant tour, the course will have more games, practical case studies, as well as direct-study plant tours in trainees’ factories. The lecture’s content will focus more on standardised works, as well as add more knowledge about logistics and warehousing.

Monozukuri is an example of TMV’s focus on human resource development, and is one of the many activities in many fields, namely traffic safety, education – training and human resources development, that the company has taken part in to contribute to the community.
