Local startup Life Coaching Vietnam and The MMS Institute hosted an International Coach Federation (ICF) approved coach training programme in Ho Chi Minh City for 16 working professionals, between July 2 and August 30, 2015.

The 16 Vietnamese trainees are leaders and specialists from different companies and diverse backgrounds from HR and finance through education and customer services to IT. The programme equipped them with the necessary coaching skills to help people or to thrive to excellence in their own fields of expertise.

Personal coaching is a profession where a coach partners with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potentials, focusing on the present and the future. The job is about listening to clients and asking the right questions at the right time In this regard, the service may count as a novelty, since people are more familiar with consultants from different fields (giving expert advice) or psychotherapists (dealing with the past). Coaching is asking questions, not giving advice.

ICF is an organisation providing certificates of excellence to coaches who went through proper training and practice reaching the standards of Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC) or Master Certified Coach (MCC).

Life Coaching Vietnam is the first to offer the PCC qualification in Vietnam, under the leadership of coach Doan Huynh Van Anh. They partnered with MCC Dr. Chérie Carter-Scott and PCC Michael Pomije from The MMS Institute, a coaching organisation accredited by ICF to train coaches in Vietnam. After the training, these 16 participants are expected to reach the ACC level, following proper practice. Their common ground is the desire to make a difference in people’s lives, be it in relationships, career, finance, health or personal development.

The next round of coach training starts in February 2016, and will also be hosted by the collaboration between The MMS Institute and Life Coaching Vietnam.
