State President meets Japanese Emperor

State President Tran Dai Quang expected that Japanese Emperor and Empress’ State visit to Viet Nam will strengthen trust and knowledge between the two peoples, promoting Viet Nam-Japan Intensive Strategic Partnership in the future.

The State President made that statement at his reception for Japanese Emperor Akihito on March 1 on the occasion of the Emperor’s first visit to Viet Nam from February 28-March 5.

Welcoming the Emperor and Empress to Viet Nam in early 2017, the State President said he regarded their visit a historical milestone in the two nations’ relationship.

The State leader expressed his thanks to the Japanese Emperor, Empress, Government and people for their sentiments towards Viet Nam over recent years.

The two sides talked about the long-term exchanges between the two nations and appraised the fast and fruitful developments in bilateral relationship over the past more than 40 years, and expressed their hope to accelerate the cooperative relations in the future.

At the meeting, State President Quang and his spouse introduced their guests to Viet Nam’s cultural characteristics, expressing their desire to receive more members from the Imperial House of Japan to Viet Nam in 2018 on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.
