SIS’ students awarded outstanding Cambridge Learners Awards

Tran Hoai Thanh of Singapore International School at Cau Giay and Nguyen Tai Ngoc of Singapore International School at Saigon South have been acknowledged by Cambridge International Examinations on their outstanding academic achievements in this year’s Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards.

The awards celebrate the success of learners who have demonstrated academic excellence in the June 2012 Cambridge examination series in over 40 countries.

Tran Hoai Thanh has been named ‘Top in Vietnam’s for Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives. This refers to learners who have gained the highest standard mark in Vietnam for a single subject.

Nguyen Tai Ngoc gained the highest mark in Vietnam for ‘High Achievement’ in Cambridge IGCSE English as a second language. ‘High Achievement’ is awarded to learners who have outstanding performance in subjects not taken widely in Vietnam and learners who have achieved the total highest cumulative marks across a number of subjects.

Shane Blood, principal of Singapore International School at Cau Giay, said: “We are very proud of Hoai Thanh’s achievement and she has now become a role model for younger students at Singapore International School at Cau Giay in demonstrating that academic excellence at the highest levels can be achieved through our instructional programmes.”

Singapore International School (SIS), operating under the management of KinderWorld Education Group, with links to various schools in Singapore and Australia, offers an international primary and secondary programme which is based on English, Mathematics and Science curriculum content and skills, as promoted by the Ministry of Education, Singapore and refers to elements of the Queensland Studies Authority curriculum (Australia) for the development of Health and Physical Education, Studies of Society and Environment, Information and Communication Technology and Arts.

Secondary students take the Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) in the final Secondary school year. Cambridge International As and A Levels or GAC programmes will be undertaken in the final year of High School study which provides access to many universities worldwide.

There are seven campuses of Singapore International School in operations nationwide – Ha Noi (Cau Giay, Ciputra and Van Phuc), Danang (Le Loi), Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon South), Binh Duong (Binh Duong New City) and Vung Tau (Dai An). SIS at Cau Giay, Van Phuc, Ciputra and Saigon South were granted Candidacy Status by the accrediting agency, the Schools Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
