SCG Building Materials, one of five core businesses of SCG – an ASEAN leading conglomerate, is to showcase its latest building materials and premium products at the Vietbuild International Exhibition in Hanoi.

The annual national exhibition, which takes place this year between March 24-28, gathers a range of leading suppliers to present new products, materials, indoor and outdoor furniture, home appliances, paint, glass, doors and real estate.

Expressing pride at his company’s participation in the event, Sattawat Thitaram, director of SCG Building Materials Vietnam, said: “We have exhibited successfully here before and our commitment to presenting a broad range of innovative eco-friendly products is as strong as ever. SCG continues to strive to deliver better, more eco-friendly, living for our customers and this is a great opportunity for us to showcase our products in Vietnam.”

One of the company’s most significant new product is the SCG SmartBOARD, a fiber-cement board for ceilings, walls, and floors. Composed of Portland cement and Cellulose fiber, the board utilises Firm & Flex technology, which gives the product great strength as well as making it durable, bendable and water and termite resistant. It can be used both indoors and outdoors and is fast and easy to install. It is suitable for home owners and other construction projects which require the use of thicker boards.

Another innovative product is the “SCG Cooling System”. The system, which can be installed on ceilings and walls, helps prevent too much heat from transferring into the house while also helping to conserve energy. Other benefits of the system are its durability and its ease of installation. The system comprises of the SCG SmartBOARD installed with SCG Insulation, a glass wool coating with aluminum foil that reflects heat. The materials used in the insulation are Green-3, a hygienic and eco-friendly product, and HydroProtectTM, a water-resistant material that helps to improve durability.

Consumers will also be introduced to other innovative products at the exhibition. These include: SCG CPAC Monier (concrete roof tiles), SCG EXCELLA (ceramic roof tiles), SCG roof accessories, SCG SmartWOOD (a fiber cement wood substitute), and SCG acoustic insulation.

SCG also promotes its COTTO Brand products at the SCG booth, especially the innovative ‘COTTO Digital’ technology. A highly advanced wood substitute, the cutting-edge tile is almost as good as the real thing and is available in various modular sizes.

Other COTTO Brand highlight includes the new Tetragon water closet and the Perfect Fit drainage pipe. The Tetragon water closet is hygienic, stain-proof and easy to clean and can save 3-4.5 liters of water per flush. It also adheres to existing Green Building standards. Perfect Fit, meanwhile, was designed to solve the problem of non-standard drainage pipes and can be adjusted 220 – 305 mm from the finished wall.

Most of all, the building materials, are labelled with SCG Eco Value, have been developed to provide effective protection and cooling abilities around the house. The new products reaffirm SCG’s commitment to developing innovative construction solutions for customers looking to build in an energy-efficient manner.

“Our eco-friendly products will meet increasing demand from Vietnamese consumers during the hot summer months,” said Thitaram.

SCG has set a target of increasing sales of its eco-friendly construction materials in Vietnam by 30 per cent every year. With its rapidly developing economy, there is great scope for using environmentally products in Vietnam in business segments such as construction, paper and pulp products and the petrochemical industry.

SCG, one of the leading conglomerates in the ASEAN region, comprises five core businesses: SCG Chemicals, SCG Paper, SCG Cement, SCG Building Materials and SCG Distribution. With more than 200 companies under its umbrella and 35,000 employees, SCG creates and distributes innovative products and services that respond to the current and future needs of consumers.

SCG began its regional expansion with Vietnam as its strategic hub in 1992. Currently, SCG has 15 operations in Vietnam with more than $330 million of total assets, $300 million sales and trading volumes, and employs more than 2,100 local employees.

SCG Building Materials is one of the core businesses under the SCG brand. The business unit is Thailand’s largest manufacturer of building and decorative products, and a provider of well-recognized building materials brands in the global market. Major products include roof tiles and roofing components, fiber cement boards and wood substitute products for ceiling and wall applications, ceramic floor tiles and wall tiles, sanitary wares, sanitary fittings, concrete products, and insulation products. Its products have been widely recognised for their high quality by customers both in local and international markets. An innovative mindset has been introduced to enhance the process of new products development so as to create better habitat solutions for customers.

In Vietnam, the business has started stretching its foothold by establishing CPAC Monier Vietnam manufacturing operation in southern Binh Duong province for concrete roofing products since 2005, and also Minh Thai House Component in 2006 in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the business unit has been exporting a diverse range of products and systems from Thailand to offer wider range of building materials and decorative products for Vietnamese customers.
