The signing ceremony marking the finalisation of the partnership agreement was witnessed by Olivier Charmeil, Sanofi’s executive vice president and general manager of General Medicines & Emerging Markets, and Truong Quoc Cuong, Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Health.

This important milestone reflects a major step forward in the collaboration between Sanofi and Vinapharm in Vietnam, which began in 1993.

The extended agreement covers all of Sanofi’s portfolio of healthcare solutions manufactured by Sanofi Vietnam.

Vinapharm will also become a strong partner in a new manufacturing facility built by Sanofi in Saigon High-Tech Park in Ho Chi Minh City.

This newly built state-of-the-art plant has been certified for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health and Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration.

The new plant has an initial production capacity of 90 million units per year, which could possibly be extended up to 150 million units, spanning a vast array of high-quality healthcare products.

According to Anh Tuyen Nguyen, country chair for Sanofi in Vietnam, the corporation has been present in the country for more than 50 years. This renewed and extended partnership with Vinapharm, an historical local partner, reinforces Sanofi’s long-term commitment to Vietnam and Vietnamese patients.

Le Van Son, chairman of Vinapharm, added that Sanofi is among the few pharmaceutical multinational companies that has broad capabilities across the healthcare value chain, including a state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Vietnam.

“Partnering up with such a player in the sector will help ensure innovative medicines are produced to the highest set of standards for Vietnamese patients,” Son said.
