HONG KONG: Action star Jackie Chan said in a recent interview that he is very impressed by how well-behaved his son Jaycee Chan has become after the younger Chan served six months in prison for a drug offence, reported Hong Kong media.

“I feel that he has become more disciplined. He used to be really lackadaisical and not focused enough. Now, he would place his shoes properly and always finishes the food his mother cooks for him. He even helps take the dishes to the sink and folds the clothes,” Chan told a Hong Kong news outlet.

“So I said to him ‘How about you go to prison for six months every year!’ He asked me how he could go to prison without doing anything. I laughed and asked him to request to be jailed. It is quiet in there and he can write songs!”

“In the past, we would always have a conflict after speaking for a short while. This happens even when we are just watching television. That is not the case now. He is also really remorseful and doesn’t lift his head to talk to me. I am not used to him being like this.”

Chan revealed that the first thing he did when he met his son last month in Taiwan after his son was released, was to give him a big hug at the door while his wife, Joan Lin, looked on. They then had a quiet meal together and chatted till the wee hours of the following morning.

The veteran actor added that he will no longer rule out working together with his son, and said he would accede to his son’s request to work on the script for the sequel to his 2012 film CZ12.

"Jaycee is all grown up and I am relieved! I hope to train him to become a director or to work behind the scenes," said Chan. "I no longer yearn for anything. My child is well, my wife is happy and life is smooth."
