Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on April 23 received Sri Lankan Minister of Justice Srilanka Rauff Hakeem, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

He welcomed the result of talks between Rauff Hakeem and his Vietnamese counterpart Ha Hung Cuong, and confirmed that the Vietnamese government supports judicial cooperation between the two countries.

Dung thanked Sri Lanka for recognising Vietnam’s market economy status and supporting its UN Human Rights Council membership bid.

He encouraged both countries to support each other at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

He proposed that Vietnam and Sri Lanka increase cooperation in economics, trade, investment, education-culture, and culture.

For his part, Minister Rauff Hakeem hoped to receive the Vietnamese government’s support for judicial cooperation between the two Justice Ministries.

The two countries need to share experience in multilateral legal assistance, reconciliation, lawmaking, law enforcement, legal reforms, and expert training in addressing international disputes.
