PM holds phone talks with Australian counterpart

PM Nguyen Tan Dung and his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott agreed to task foreign ministries of the two countries to coordinate in realizing the outcomes of PM Dung’s official visit to Australia last month, during their phone talks on Wednesday.

The two foreign ministries are also assigned to quickly design and finalize an action plan to implement the Declaration on enhancing the Viet Nam-Australia Comprehensive Partnership.

The Declaration covers regional and international cooperation, trade and investment, industry development, development assistance, defense, law enforcement and security.

Australian PM Abbott said during the visit, both sides outlined major orientations to accelerate the bilateral ties to a new height in accordance with the increasingly strategic nature of the relationship.

Mr. Abbott reaffirmed his desire to intensify trade and investment linkages with Viet Nam while expecting more Vietnamese farm produce to be available on the Australian market.

He said he will task Australia’s competent agencies to quickly meet PM Dung’s proposals.
