PM highly values UN bodies’ cooperation

During his meeting with representatives of the UN bodies in Viet Nam on Friday, the Government chief said that economic development, social equality and sustainable development, and environmental protection and climate change adaptation are among the Government’s top priorities in the coming years.

He voiced his support for 17 sustainable development goals which have been conceptualized by the UN.

Viet Nam will make every effort to maintain a peaceful and stable environment for the development of itself and the whole region as well, PM Dung affirmed.

PM Dung called on the UN to join the country’s efforts in ensuring peace, stability and security in the region, including security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, requesting concerned parties not to threaten or use force, deal with disputes and divergences through peaceful measures in compliance with international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The PM also asked the UN to continue its financial, technical assistance and policy consultancy in order to help the country achieve sustainable development targets./.
