PM Dung meets with Russian counterpart

PM Dung congratulated Russia on successfully organizing the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. He stressed that Viet Nam has never forgotten about the great contributions of the Soviet Union to global peace.

The Vietnamese Government chief spoke highly of Russia’s role in accelerating the talks process of the free trade agreement between Viet Nam and the EEU.

He called on the Union members to quickly ratify the agreement so that the signatories can strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

PM Medvedev said Viet Nam is the first international partner to sign the agreement, which will help further expand the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The two PMs also agreed to actively deploy joint projects reached during the PM Medvedev’s recent visit to Viet Nam, particularly in the fields of energy, investment, security and defense.

Regarding the East Sea issue, PM Medvedev affirmed that Russia supports peaceful settlement of disputes on the basis of international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The same day, PM Dung discussed and agreed on measures to enhance bilateral ties during his separate meetings with his counterparts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, and Belarus.

In his meeting with PM Karim Masimov also asked Kazakhstan to actively back the maintenance of peace, stability, security and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea; peaceful settlement of disputes on the basis of international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea; and strict and full observation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and formulation of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
