PM asks for speedier SOEs restructuring plan

The State has withdrawn nearly VND5,000 billion it invested in enterprises and gained around VND7,000 billion in revenue, of which the real estate sector accounts for 45%.

As many as 23 ministries, agencies, localities and economic corporations have submitted their State-owned enterprises (SOEs) restructuring plans to the PM. The PM has approved 19 plans which asked for the equalization of 106 more enterprises in 2015 and additional 109 in the 2016-2020 phase.

Accordingly, as many as 82 enterprises, which have set up equalization steering boards, will go privatized in the fourth quarter of 2015. A total number of 126 ones, which are going through assessments, will be privatized in the third quarter of 2015. And the other 52 ones, whose assessments are available, will complete the privatization process in the second quarter of this year.

The PM urged the Ministry of Finance to tackle obstacles and difficulties in assessing the enterprises as well as host and cooperate with the Steering Board for SOEs Renovation and Development to review the SOEs restructuring works in the 2011-2016 phase and establish the overall SOEs restructuring plan in the 2016-2020 phase.
