PM approves adjusting master construction plan for Nghi Son EZ

The PM has approved the task of adjusting and expanding the master construction plan for Thanh Hoa province’s Nghi Son Economic Zone (EZ) until 2035, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, the research scope of the Nghi Son EZ covers the entire area of the current Nghi Son EZ; the remaining area of Tinh Gia district; and a total area of 106,000 hectares in Nong Cong district’s Yen My, Cong Binh and Cong Chinh communes and Nhu Thanh district’s Thanh Tan, Thanh Ky and Yen Lac communes.

Adjustment and expansion work aims to construct the Nghi Son EZ in line with the national development strategy as a whole and the Viet Nam sea strategy in particular, and build it into an area of dynamic, innovative, rapid and sustainable economic development, and an investment attraction and cargo transit center.

The Nghi Son EZ will be developed into a multidisciplinary and multi-field industrial development complex associated with the building and effective exploitation of deep-water seaports, with a focus on oil refining and petrochemical industries and basic industries.

The EZ will look towards constructing a modern and synchronous socio-technical infrastructure system; facilitating sustainable environment and effective use of land; generating more jobs and step by step becoming a center for training high-quality human resources in the region.

As planned, by 2025, the EZ will complete an especially favorable investment and business environment, implement the construction of a number of significant socio-economic infrastructure facilities and attract investors both at home and abroad. After 2025, the EZ will facilitate synchronous development in industry, services, trade, finance, socio-culture, ecotourism and resort; combine socio-economic development with safeguarding national security and defence; develop a green and sustainable urban model; and strive to become a dynamic and modern urban area.
