PM appoints new Chairman for EVN

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung appointed the Deputy General Director of Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN) Duong Quang Thanh, as the group's Chairman on March 25.

Thanh, 53, was born in the central province of Quang Binh. He holds a doctorate degree in Economics and has worked in the electricity industry for more than three decades in general, and for the group for more than two decades in particular.

Since 2007, he has worked as EVN's Deputy General Director, being in charge of the nuclear power investment project, building the electricity market, training human resources and working on key projects to provide power to southern Viet Nam.

On January 26, the former Chairman of EVN Hoang Quoc Vuong was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade. Since then, General Director Pham Le Thanh had assumed the duties of Chairman temporarily.

After two months, Duong Quang Thanh took office.
