Phu Quoc Island has highest hotel prices in Vietnam

Hotel room prices on Phu Quoc Island, in the southern Vietnam, are the highest in the country, according to CBRE.

The report stated that the rate of revenue per available room of the two biggest hotels in Phu Quoc Island was USD124 in 2013. It was followed only by HCM City with USD123.2 and Mui Ne with USD115.8.

The report also stated that the average occupancy rate of high-grade hotel rooms in Phu Quoc has been relatively stable over the past three years, at 75%. The rate is more than 80% for smaller hotels.

According to CBRE, most of hotels and guesthouses in Phu Quoc are of small scale. Only 952 out of the total 2,900 hotel rooms meet international standards and there are no five-star hotel here yet.

However, CBRE forecasts changes and opportunities in the market after the opening of Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort & Spa. The project is scheduled to become operational by the end of this year.

Huynh Quang Hung, Vice Chairman of Phu Quoc District, said that the district has been receiving a sharp rise in the number of visitors. The currently locality plays guest to around 5,000-6,000 tourists per day.
