British University Vietnam today announced it would grant 30 partial scholarships for the English for University Programme, as well as several other scholarships worth more than VND3 billion ($143,000) to prospective students attending Open Day July 20, 2014.

The Open Day “Think British, Think Success” will run from 8:30am to 4pm on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at BUV’s 193 Ba Trieu Street campus in Hanoi.

In addition to obtaining information on programmes, tuition fee policy, recruitment criteria and scholarship opportunities in 2014, students will have a chance to sit for the English placement test to receive partial scholarships for the English for University courses commencing August 2014.

On joining the Open Day, parents and students can register for a Demo class; particularly, English class as well as degree majors and undertake a personality test.

Additionally, “British University Vietnam Open Day 2014” will offer various extracurricular activities such as participants would have the chance to experience students’ life through shows hosted by BUV diverse clubs.

2014 academic year will see BUV introduce a new structure of six levels of English for University programme that has been developed to make it more suitable for students who want to study a Business Bachelor programme awarded by University of London and Staffordshire University.

“We offer a reputed world class British undergraduate education, identical to the United Kingdom at 25 per cent of the overall cost of pursuing a similar course in the United Kingdom, Australia or the US. We are committed to give Vietnamese students critical thinking skills, as well as to achieve the professional working skills to keep pace with the global employment market,” said dean of BUV Chris Jeffery.

“During the degree, students will be provided internship opportunities with international employers as well as international field trips and study abroad opportunities. Our goal is to become the leading university in Vietnam that teaches and awards British degrees," he added.

Established in 2009, BUV is a successful educational cooperation between Vietnam and UK.

Students studying at BUV will be provided with the same programme and degree as British students as well as other international students studying in UK but with lesser tuition fee.

With support from international lecturers, British University Vietnam provides various Business and Finance programmes such as Marketing Management, International Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Accounting and Business (Staffordshire University), and Banking and Finance (University of London International Programme).

In 2014 BUV was awarded Registered Centre status by University of London International Programmes and is one of only 70 institutions globally awarded this status.

President of BUV Graeme Davies noted “A British degree from a British university is a passport to career success for BUV graduates.”

According to statistics by Ministry of Labor, War Invalids & Social Welfare, in 2013, 72,000 undergraduates and graduates were unemployed, which results from the lack of preparation on skills, working attitude and linguistic ability to become the most in demand candidates after graduation.
