The Prince, who is on an official trip with Crown Princess Mette-Marit and a delegation of Norwegian business people, said he hoped for further collaboration in the maritime industry, the processing of aquatic products and hydropower.
He said he was impressed by Viet Nam's socio-economic achievements, especially in poverty reduction.
Prince Haakon said that positive changes in relations between the two countries had opened up more opportunities, particularly in sharing global experiences.
President Sang, who hosted a reception for the Norwegians, said international partners, including Norway, had greatly contributed to Viet Nam's achievements.
He said he hoped Norwegian firms accompanying the Prince would be able to sign business deals with Vietnamese partners.
He agreed with the Prince's proposal on priorities for co-operation between the two countries, namely economic development and improving human rights.
Sang said Viet Nam always paid attention to human rights.
The Prince said that, as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Viet Nam could better protect the human rights of its people and others around the world.
Sang said that Viet Nam was implementing policies to strengthen connections between the State and people, thus further promoting democracy.
