Newly-elected State President gives oath speech

The 11th session of the 13th National Assembly (NA) on April 2 elected Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang as State President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to replace former State President Truong Tan Sang.

With 465 valid votes, 436 approved Quang as State President and 460 (93.12%) ratified the Resolution on the election of Mr. Tran Dai Quang as State President.

Delivering an oath taking speech, he pledged to be faithful to the nation, people and the Constitution and spare no effort to fulfill tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.

After the sworn-in speech, he delivered a speech before the National Assembly, in which he promised to do his utmost to serve the nation and people, inherit and uphold the nation building and protection tradition and learn experience from the predecessors.

He committed to strengthening the bloc of great national unity, consistently struggle for protecting the national independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity for the national benefits and security as well as accelerating the renovation, active international integration and improving the prestige and status of Viet Nam in the world.
