MSNBC.com wins top ONA award

The Online News Association (ONA) handed out awards for excellence in Web journalism on Saturday with MSNBC.com winning a top honor.

MSNBC.com received the award for general excellence in online journalism for large sites while TexasTribune.org won the award for small sites. The Las Vegas Sun was the winner in the medium site category.

France's Owni.fr was the large site winner in the non-English category for general excellence in online journalism while Argentina's LaNacion.com.ar took the honors in the non-English small site category.

The New York Times, CNN, ESPN, National Public Radio, Salon, Toronto Star and Mother Jones were also among the publications recognized by the ONA for their digital journalism efforts during the past year.
