The Microchip Technology Vietnam University Scholarship Programme Award Ceremony was just held in Ho Chi Minh City, providing scholarships and resources to five leading universities across the country.
Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog, and Flash-IP solutions, has awarded a total of 11 scholarships to select students, 200 development tools, and 500 books to academic institutions, benefitting nearly 2,000 students.
Following a rigorous evaluation by lecturers and professors, scholarship winners were selected from a shortlist of the top final-year electronic engineering students from five leading universities.
In addition to academic excellence, the winners had to demonstrate their mastery of Microchip products in their research and development projects.
The academic programme demonstrates Microchip's on-going commitment to education through offering unique benefits and resources for educators, researchers, and students around the world.
Since launching its first Vietnamese university programme in 2008, Microchip has supported academic institutions in a variety of ways, providing development tools, reference books, and offering assistance in setting up laboratories.
For the 2017/18 programme, Microchip donated $20,000 to nearly 2,000 students across five local universities. In addition, Microchip supervised the establishment of four microcontroller laboratories at these universities.
“We are proud of our commitment to playing a key role in helping the region's next generation of electronic engineers hone their skills and gain qualifications,” said Joe Krawczyk, vice president of Asia Pacific Sales at Microchip Technology. “We strongly believe this initiative can play an important part in motivating and encouraging promising students to strive for even greater academic excellence in the future.”
Participating universities included Hanoi University of Science, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, People's Police University of Technology and Logistics, Danang University of Science and Technology, and Ho Chi Minh University of Science.
