METALEX 2015, ASEAN’s largest international machine tools and metal working technologies, trade exhibition and conference kicked off in Thailand yesterday to drive up metal working sectors.

The four-day event attracts more than 2,700 leading brand names from all over the world to showcase the latest hi-precision technologies as well as the state-of-art machine tools. It is aimed to offer ASEAN manufacturers ideas to upgrade their productivity and raise manufacturing standards in metal cutting, folding, automation, precision measuring instruments, small size industrial robots and robotic arms.

With eight international pavilions from China, Japan, India, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and the United Kingdom, the event will create a platform for local enterprises to exchange information with foreign enterprises as well as update participants on the innovations which will be applied into business activities.

In addition, METALEX 2015 brings a B2B networking platform to connect with over 70,000 manufacturers, industrialist, suppliers, distributors, and buyers from the region. Many transactions and negotiations will take place here, which is expected to be no less than $200 million.

Duangdej Yukwamdee, deputy managing director of Reed Tradex said that, “ASEAN manufacturers are expected to build value added for their products by emphasizing quality with attention to fine details and high precision. We can observe a growing trend to switch to more modern equipment incorporating higher precision technologies as well as a trend towards automation to reduce mistakes from manual operation in the production of high precision parts. As such, many manufacturers are changing and modifying their operations by choosing smaller robots and robotic arms.”

Participating in METALEX 2015, visitors can find more than 10 brands of industrial robots which can calculate direction and weight precisely at high speed such as Comau, ABB, Nachi Technology and IAI robots.

Also, two regional level educational seminars will be held in line to help participants learn the best practices as well as keep up with market trends from top-notch experts. The seminar themed METALEX Congress will raise the expertise of Thai aviation and rail Industries, while the METALEX Nano Forum will update trends in nano technology in metal working industry.
