Luxury cruise ship brings 2,300 foreigners to Vietnam

Saigontourist Travel Service Company on May 7 welcomed 2,300 foreign passengers and crew members from Italy, Spain, the UK and Germany aboard five-star cruise ship Costa Victoria on a Trans-Vietnam tour.

Upon their arrival, the tourists visited HCM City, the Cu Chi tunnels and My Tho city of Tien Giang province, where they enjoyed water puppetry performances, shopped at Ben Thanh market, and tasted tropical fruits at local orchards.

The ship is scheduled to travel along the Vietnam coast over the next two days and arrive in Danang city on May 9, where passengers will have the chance to tour the Champa relics at the My Son sanctuary, as well as the imperial capital of Hue and Hoi An ancient town.

They will continue on to their final destination, Halong Bay, on May 10 and the Costa Victoria will finish its five-day tour of Vietnam at 5pm on May 11.

The ship plans to return to Vietnam again on November 10 and follow the Halong-Danang-HCM City route.   

The Costa Victoria has the capacity to carry a maximum of 2,394 passengers and 790 crew members. It is a floating resort featuring five restaurants, ten bars, and three swimming pools, as well as extensive entertainment and shopping areas.

Doan Thi Thanh Tra, a representative of Saigontourist, said that in the first four months this year, the company has received 140,320 passengers and crew members on international cruise ships, including the Costa Classica, SuperStar Aquarius, Voyages of Discovery, Columbus, Spirit of Adventure, Europa, Saga Ruby and Princess Danae.
