Local and int’l artists gather at Hanoi’s Monsoon Festival

Monsoon Music Festival 2015, a major music event in the country, will take place from October 8 to 11, featuring a slew of local and international artists.

The festival made its debut in 2014 to create a prestigious music event in the region and in the world and to promote the local music industry. This year, performances by some leading solo artists and bands from the UK, Belgium, Iceland, Japan and Vietnam are highly expected to wow audiences.

On the opening night on October 8, spectators will enjoy performances by young pop stars like Vietnam Idol 2010 winner Uyen Linh, Toc Tien, Hoang Thuy Linh, Trung Quan, Tien Tien, Kimmese, Pham Anh Khoa, Dong Hung, Ta Quang Thang, Thai Chau, DJ SlimV and the Maius Philharmonic, as well as Danish band WhoMadeWho.

Artists from Hanoi-based SpaceSpeakers, including Hoang Touliver, Kimmese, JustaTee, Cuong Seven, Mr.A, Soobin, Nhat Thu, BigDaddy, Rhymastic, DJ Teddy and Toc Tien, together with international artists like Samaris from Iceland and Zara Mcfarlane from England will share the stage on October 9.

Joss Stone, queen of Soul/R&B from the UK who has pocketed numerous Grammy and Brits awards and has had 14 million albums sold in the world, will contribute a 90-minute performance on October 10. Other artists including Matt Robertson, DJ Shinichi Osawa (Japan), and the Great Mountain Fire band from Belgium and Pak Band from Vietnam will perform the same night.

The final night on October 11 is expected to feature world-known string quartet Bond, local composer/singer Le Cat Trong Ly, Samaya from Norway, From The Airport band from South Korea, and overseas Vietnamese DJ Demon Slayer.

The show’s director/musician Quoc Trung and his team have spent a year selecting and arranging performances for all the artists on the list to bring a memorable music festival to locals.
