Korean Air general director Lee Dong Min presented the bicycles to the students

With a happy smile on her face, Nguyen Hong Hue, a seventh grader, received her new bicycle. Riding back to school on the new bicycle, Hue said that from tomorrow her route to school would be so much faster.

"My parents are farmers. I and my mother often share the same bicycle. With the gift, I can carry my younger brother to school every day," Hue added.

Hue was one of the poor primary and secondary junior school students of Khanh Tien commune in Yen Khanh district receiving bicycles worth nearly VND100 million ($4,400) in total.

"We are very happy to be here. We hope that the bicycles will make it easier for poor pupils to travel to school and continue their education dream," said Lee Dong Min, general director of Korean Air Hanoi.

Together with the staff of Korean Air, nearly 20 representatives from its agents also participated in the charity programme.

The leader of Yen Khanh district granted a certificate of merit to Korean Air

"Khanh Tien is a poor commune where the number of poor households remains high at 24.6 per cent. The bicycles are meaningful gifts for our students. We hope to receive similar gifts from other organisations and companies in the future to facilitate education and training," said the principal of Khanh Tien Secondary Junior School.

With Korean Air's gifts, the travelling time of students in Ninh Binh would be shorter, allowing them to escape the blazing summer sun faster.
