Key tasks determined at 9th session of 13th NA

3,854 comments and petitions sent to NA

The Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and the NA Standing Committee synthetized 3,854 comments and petitions from voters and people nationwide sent to the NA.

Accordingly, the effective leadership of the Party and State as well as efforts of all ministries and agencies on dealing with socio-economic issues are appraised.

The voters and citizens also express their concerns about the organization of the Party Congress at all levels, challenges to socio-economic development, traffic accidents, fake goods, and environmental pollution.

The world and regional political security is also closely followed. Voters and citizens are worried and discontented with China’s illegal activities such as their reclamation projects on Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes, which violate the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982, Viet Nam’s sovereignty, sovereign and jurisdiction as well as the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).

They expect that the Party and State continue launching effective guidelines and measures to protect the nation’s sea and island sovereignty.

In addition, petitions on agriculture, farmer and rural areas, social security, policies and laws on land, natural resources management, environmental protection, education and training, healthcare, anti-corruption, anti-waste and administrative procedure reform were also proposed.

Seven fundamental tasks for Gov’t

At the opening session of the ninth sitting of the 13th NA, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc, on behalf of the PM, presented the Report on the implementation of the socio-economic development plan in 2014 and early months of 2015.

Among 14 criteria set in the socio-economic development plan for 2014, 13 exceeded the set plan.

Over the past few months of 2015, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate reached 5.98%, exceeding the set plan and highest since 2011.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 1.84%, the lowest over the recent years.

The exports increased 13.7%, which contributed to the trade surplus of US$2.1 billion.

In the rest months of 2015, the Government will concentrate on realizing seven key tasks including the improvement of the investment environment, tackling difficulties for production, business and promoting growth; acceleration of economic restructuring in accordance with renewing growth model; development of social culture and enhancement of people’s material and spiritual lives; strengthening natural resources management, protecting the environment, preventing natural calamity and coping with the climate change; boosting administrative procedure reform; preventing corruption, waste, trafficking and trade frauds; dealing with denouncements; strengthening national defense and security and improving he effectiveness of diplomacy and international integration as well as enhancement of information and communications.
