Under the Record of Discussions, the five-year assistance programme is scheduled to commence this August with an aim to enhance the national capacity for sustainable natural resource management by focusing on forests, biodiversity and people who depend on these natural resources for their livelihood.

In the northwest region of Vietnam, JICA has recently assisted Dien Bien province in the formulation and implementation of the Provincial REDD+ Action Plan (PRAP) through “the Project for Sustainable Forest Management in the Northwest Watershed Area (SUSFORM-NOW)”, which is the first project bearing official PRAP approval in Vietnam.
