Int’l travelers to HCMC rise during Tet

International tourist arrivals to Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the Year of the Snake increased by 8 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to unofficial figures just released by the municipal department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

It has been reported that travel firm JTB T&T, a joint venture between JTB Asia Pacific (Japan) and T&T Co., Ltd. (Vietnam), reached the highest growth with a 30 percent increase, followed by Saigontourist with 14 percent. Other travel agencies recorded visitor growth ranging from 5 to 10 per cent.

In other news, airlines operating in Vietnam canceled 107 flights and delayed 439 others due to overloads of passengers at major airports, especially at HCMC-based Tan Son Nhat Airport, during Tet, according to the Aviation Administration of Vietnam.
