Vietnam is ready to hold its first-ever international-level fashion week in Ho Chi Minh City in December, which will showcase designs created by eight couturiers from several countries.

Seventeen shows of the Vietnam International Fashion Week 2014 will be organized from December 1 to 6 at Gem Center, at 8 Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, District 1.

Eight designers, including Antonio Grimaldi from Italy, Zico Song from South Korea, Frederick Lee from Singapore, Tamae Hirokawa from Japan, Roj Singhakul from Thailand, and Tsolmandakh Munkhuu from Mongolia, will showcase their latest collections at the shows.

Celebrated Vietnamese designer Nguyen Cong Tri, a new member of the Asian Haute Couture Fashion Association, will represent Vietnam at the events.

Young Vietnamese designers such as Chung Thanh Phong, Hoang Minh Ha, Le Thanh Hoa, and Ly Giam Tien, who won the 2nd local season of American fashion design reality TV series Project Runway will also feature their works in the shows.

Frank Cintamani, founder of the Asian Couture Federation, considers the organization of the Vietnam International Fashion Week 2014 a groundbreaking step in elevating the Southeast Asian country’s fashion industry to a new height.

Cintamani also chairs FIDé Fashion Weeks, which is the Week’s co-organizer.
