American company IBM has won the 2014 Global Visionary Innovation Leadership Award from global consultancy Frost & Sullivan.

IBM has also received the Best-in-Class Smart City Integrator award from IDC, who ranked it as the world’s top mobile consultancy and technology service provider.

Both companies shared the idea that IBM provides excellent support to thousands of cities of different sizes worldwide and integrates data technology and cloud computing to develop smart cities.

“The Frost & Sullivan award recognised IBM’s achievements in helping cities around the world become smart,” said IBM Vietnam’s general director Tan Jee Toon. “IBM is focused on collecting colossal data volumes and using its technologies like cloud computing, big data analysis technology, mobile and social networks and its smart monitor centre to integrate cities’ systems and allow them to effectively manage their resources.”

“In Vietnam, IBM is working with the central city of Danang to build a smarter city by 2020, with the early work in the areas of water resource treatment and traffic reorganization,” Toon added.

According to Frost & Sullivan, the world’s smart city market value may rise to $1.565 trillion by 2020.

In Vietnam, MobiFone’s VMS company was the first to implement IBM’s cloud solutions, which have and will allow VMS to improve its business, particularly in advertising and promotion campaigns.

Early this year, IBM was selected among the top 10 enterprises in Vietnam with the best information and communications technology working environment in Vietnam.
