Today, Japan-based Hitachi Limited is hosting the “Hitachi Innovation Forum 2014 Singapore” at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Themed “Social Innovation – It’s Our Future Empowering Business and Society with Information”, the forum aims to showcase Hitachi’s Social Innovation Business in the global market.

Featuring conferences, seminars and exhibitions, Hitachi will introduce its advanced and cutting-edge business models, solutions, products, services and technologies in the fields of finance, industry, healthcare, transportation, water treatment and energy.

“We decided to host the Hitachi Innovation Forum in Singapore to demonstrate Hitachi’s further commitment to promoting growth in this region,” said Toshiaki Higashihara, president and COO at Hitachi.

“ASEAN members are already recognised as ideal bases for manufacturing and now they also represent a huge market. As such, ASEAN have become an extremely important region for Hitachi,” Higashihara emphasised.

According to the company’s report, Asia including ASEAN members is one of the most important markets for Hitachi, and the company is aiming to increase its revenues in Asia (excluding China) from 989.9 billion yen ($9.15 billion) in 2013 fiscal year to 1.29 trillion yen ($11.9 billion) in 2015 fiscal year.

“Up to now we have been rolling out a variety of businesses in this region including infrastructure systems, high functional materials and components, construction machinery, automotive parts and home appliances. In the future, we will expand our operations targeting two key business fields – the information and telecommunication system business with a focus on financial solutions, and the railway system business,” Higashihara said.
