Being an integral part of the Trang An landscape, Hang Mua is a must-visit destination in Ninh Binh thanks to its unique panoramic view of Tam Coc.

In spite of not being as well-known as Trang An or Tam Coc-Bich Dong, Hang Mua does capture the hearts of visitors. Recently, the spot has emerged as one of the top destination choices by foreign visitors because of its remarkable unspoiled natural beauty.

The view of Tam Coc from the top of Hang Mua

Hang Mua is located at the foot of the Mua Mountains, which look like a large overturned bell with about 800m wide. There are hundreds of white stone steps leading to the peak of the mountain which is often said is a miniature version of the Chinese Great Wall. Both edges of the stairs are lined by stones that are elaborately decorated with the carved symbols of the dragon and phoenix inspired by the artistic style of the Tran dynasty.

It has been said that when he first came to the Hoa Lu area and established the Thai Vi Temple, the Kings of Tran often visited Hang Mua to enjoy dancers (I don't know how to discribe dancers who lived ) dancing and singing, which lent it the named Hang Mua (Dancing Caves).

To visit, tourists can follow National Highway 1A to Ninh Binh city and follow the road to Trang An or Tam Coc until they find the road sign announcing the direction to Hang Mua (Mua Caves). Along the way, visitors can enjoy the view of serene, endless rice fields and old villages, rivers, lakes, and the majestic mountains of Ninh Binh.

Hang Mua is interestingly not famous for its caves, but for the panorama that awaits visitors who conquer the 500 stone steps to the peak, where they find Tam Coc stretching at their feet in its full glory.

Breathtaking sunset scenery

Standing on top of Hang Mua, the magnificent landscape is breathtaking. The entire landscape is ruled by the meandering river, with boats coursing softly along.

Particularly in May and June, when the Tam Coc landscape is filled with the color of yellow rice paddies (often called the "golden season") the natural scenery takes on an irrefutable power from the top of Hang Mua.

When visiting Tam Coc-Bich Dong, travellers often climb the mountain to see the ancient capital of Hoa Lu from the mountain peak.

Recently, Hang Mua has been designated to become an eco-friendly tourist destination that offers mountain climbing. A tourist area was built by people who truly love Ninh Binh to preserve and conserve the Trang An Lanscape Complex—a wonderful gift from Mother Nature which was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.

Unlike other over-crowded tourist attractions, Hang Mua has beautiful culture and a peaceful natural landscape, offering plenty for visitors, such as scenic accommodation, climbing areas, and plentiful sightseeing.
